Pickleball court dimensions are easy to understand. With a simple setup, you’ll be ready to play confidently in no time.
Court Dimensions
- Length: 44 feet (13.41 meters)
- Width: 20 feet (6.10 meters)
These measurements are the same for both singles and doubles, so no adjustments are needed for different game formats.
Key Court Lines
- Baselines: These are the lines at the ends of the court, parallel to the net. They mark the back boundary, and you need to stand behind them when serving.
- Sidelines: Running down the length of the court on each side, these lines make the lateral boundaries of the court and run perpendicular to the net.
- Centerlines: This line divides each side of the court into two service areas, running from the baseline to the non-volley line.
- Non-Volley Line: This line is parallel to the net and located 7 feet (2.13 meters) away from it on both sides. It marks the boundary of the non-volley zone.
The Non-Volley Zone (The Kitchen)
The non-volley zone, or “kitchen,” is the area between the net and the non-volley line. It measures 7 feet by 20 feet. Strategically, this zone is critical because players are not allowed to volley (hit the ball in the air without bouncing) while inside this area. Be careful not to step into the kitchen when hitting volleys.
Net Height
The net divides the court in half, with each side measuring 22 feet.
- At the Sidelines: The net should be 36 inches (0.91 meters) high.
- At the Center: The net height should be 34 inches (0.86 meters).
Line Thickness
All court lines, including baselines, sidelines, non-volley lines, and the centerline, should be 2 inches (5.08 cm) wide. This standard width ensures consistency and aligns with official pickleball rules.
